Cain and Abel describes itself as a password recovery tool for Windows. In reality, however, it is much more useful than that – it can capture and monitor network traffic for passwords, crack encrypted passwords using multiple methods, record VoIP conversations, and even recover wireless network keys. The software can perform a dictionary attack test (trying every word in the dictionary), a brute force attack test (trying every possible combination of upper-case and lower-case letters, numbers, and symbols) and a cryptanalysis attack test.
